19.03.09
Tickets are now on sale to see Katie Noonan in 'Luminous' - a breath-taking fusion of image, music, and voice on at the Sydney Opera House on April 3 and 4 with photographer Bill Henson, violinist and leader Richard Tognetti, composer and sound sculptor Paul Healy, and vocalist extraordinaire Katie in a heady mix of sound and visual exploration.

The Australian Chamber Orchestra is renowned for its innovative cross art-form collaborations.

It has created groundbreaking
stage works with such diverse artists as Michael Leunig, Peter Garrett, Neil Finn and Tim Finn. Other recent collaborative triumphs include Musica Surfica, a film about the ACO and its surf-loving musicians which scooped Best Feature at the New York Surf Film Festival, and Simon Callowâ??s Classical Destinations, the hit TV series.
In April, the ACO reprises one of its most successful collaborative ventures, Luminous, at the magnificent State
Theatre.

Luminous is a breath-taking fusion of image, music, and voice - it harnesses the individual talents of photographer Bill
Henson, violinist and leader Richard Tognetti, composer and sound sculptor Paul Healy, vocalist extraordinaire
Katie Noonan, and transforms them into a seamless whole â?? a heady mix of sound and visual exploration. It was performed in Australia in 2005 and in Slovenia in 2008.

Pop diva, jazz singer and opera-trained, the ARIA award-winning Katie Noonan is recognised as one of the most distinctive talents in Australian contemporary music. Katie's 2008 tour with the ACO was the Orchestra's biggest
selling tour ever. Later that year, Katie performed Luminous at the Maribor Festival in Slovenia, where the ACO's own Richard Tognetti is Artistic Director, 2008-2010. Katie is reprising her role for the April 2009 performances of Luminous.

Bill Henson, a photographer of long international standing, has had his work exhibited around the world at major arts
centres in the Americas, Europe and Asia. In Luminous, the combination of his innate musicality and extraordinary eye leads the viewer on a choreographic dance exploring nature and humanity through his atmospheric images.

The music for Luminous is an eclectic mix of twentieth century masterpieces with works by Schnittke, Britten, Crumb, Vasks, Piazzolla and Janacek, and pop classics including REM and Yared, with unifying force provided
through the soundscapes of Paul Healy.
